Community Oriented Policing
The Seaford Police Department has 27 full-time law enforcement officers who provide around-the-clock service to the people of this community. Each Seaford officer is a graduate of the Delaware State Police Training Academy. Seaford Police has several divisions within the Department to include Criminal Investigations, accident reconstruction, tactical team for all highrisk warrant service and a police motor unit.
The Department also employs 11 civilian employees (9 dispatchers, one secretary and one records clerk) who maintain the Nationally Accredited 911 Communications Center on a 24-hour basis. The 911 Center receives police, fire, ambulance and city utilities calls and is fully computer automated. Each unit of the Seaford Police Department fleet is fully equipped with all emergency equipment to include Panasonic laptop onboard computers, which are linked directly to the Delaware Justice Information System. Patrol vehicles are also equipped with Automatic External Defibrillators and the latest Mobile Vision Camera System. The Seaford Communications Center which goes by the official title, "Seaford 911 Center", dispatches fire, ambulance, police and city utilities calls and all requests for assistance. The Seaford 911 Center handles approximately 10,000 911 calls per year. The City of Seaford was the first community in Delaware to offer the nationwide 911 emergency telephone number.
